SOEC
The primary focus is on hydrogen generation and synthesis gas production through high-temperature electrolysis basd on Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells (SOEC). With SOEC, water and CO2 can be directly converted into synthesis gas. This gas mixture, consisting of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, serves as a crucial raw material for the synthesis of liquid energy carriers such as methanol.
What sets SOEC apart from other electrolysis technologies is its capability to produce not only hydrogen but also carbon monoxide. Another significant reason for investigating SOEC technology in the DryHy project is its ability to utilize waste heat from other process components, preventing its loss. This feature enables SOEC to achieve outstanding efficiency for the overall process.
